A Replacement Axle Needs to Match the Trailer

Do Not Order by Weight Rating Alone
Matching an axle involves more than selecting the same capacity. Depending on the trailer, the replacement must fit the mounting arrangement, hub-face dimensions, suspension, brakes, and wheel and hub requirements. The axle identification label and photos of the existing setup can help start the fitment discussion.
Replacing an axle with a higher-rated unit does not automatically increase the trailer’s GVWR or allowable payload. The trailer’s frame, suspension, coupler, brakes, tires, and original ratings remain part of the complete system.
Is the Axle Actually the Cause?
Tire wear or tracking problems can have more than one cause. Bearings, suspension components, wheels, tires, and loading can also deserve inspection. Describing when the problem started and what happened beforehand helps us determine what to check instead of guessing at a replacement part.
